Moonlight Rollerway in Glendale

Published September 18, 2019 Updated August 18, 2026By Bill Armstrong, CEO — California Bail License #1214401

Armstrong has been a Glendale business for four generations, and we write about the places that make this a town rather than an exit off the 134. Moonlight Rollerway at 5110 San Fernando Road is one of them: a mid-century roller rink with a maple floor, a Wurlitzer organ, and a mirror ball, still operating in an era when almost every other rink in Los Angeles County has closed.

Why it still matters

Southern California once had dozens of roller rinks. Most became storage units and self-park lots. Moonlight kept the original format — a wooden floor, organ music nights, rental quads rather than inline skates, and sessions that draw everyone from nine-year-olds at birthday parties to skaters who have been coming since the seventies.

It has also had a long second life on screen. The rink's interior is instantly recognizable from film, television, and music video shoots, which is part of why it has survived when its neighbors did not.

A Glendale note from us

Our office has served this city since the family started writing bail in 1926, and the through-line of that work is that most people who need us are having the worst week of an otherwise ordinary life. Neighborhood places like Moonlight are the other side of that — the reason people build a life here in the first place. If you need us, we are here around the clock. If you don't, go skate.

Who is writing this bond

A family that has posted bail in California since 1926

Cecil C. Armstrong opened our Glendale office in 1926. Four generations later, Bill Armstrong (CEO) and Nikki Armstrong (Co-CEO & Licensed Bail Agent) — the fourth generation of the family — still run the company, and our agents still answer the phone themselves. When you call about an arrest in Los Angeles or San Diego County, you reach a licensed Armstrong agent, not a national call center that hands your file to a stranger in another state.
